Company Overview​

Geosynthetics Industrial Works PLC (GIW) was founded in 2005 through a joint venture between the former Water Works Construction Enterprise and Golden Trade Co. Located in Addis Ababa’s Akaki Kality Sub-city, Kebele 10, the factory spans 4800m², with an additional 1800m² for offices, allowing for future expansion. All machinery is state-of-the-art, producing products to international standards.

Company Background

GIW was founded with the aim of promoting efficient water resource management by conserving water, reducing wastage, and addressing the Ethiopian market’s need for high-quality geosynthetic products. These products, including plastic pipes, plastic sheeting, and various other offerings, play a vital role in protecting, collecting, delivering, and containing water resources, as well as soil protection.

By manufacturing geosynthetics locally, GIW contributes significantly to Ethiopia’s water service provision to agriculture, industry, and utilities. The company employs over 230 individuals, including managers, engineers, marketing and sales representatives, office support personnel, and manufacturing plant workers, providing expertise and high-quality products to its customers.

GIW’s adaptability to market changes and client needs has enabled it to offer a wide range of products across various sectors. The company places a strong emphasis on staff training and career progression, recognizing that its employees are the foundation of its success. GIW’s staff are available to provide technical advice on installations, and the company aims to offer turnkey installation services in the future.
